Break the script into scenes and beats
Read the script once for story, then a second time for visuals. Split each scene into beats: a character enters, a product is revealed, a reaction lands, a chase begins, a close-up shows emotion, or a transition moves the viewer to a new location.
For each beat, write one sentence that describes what the viewer must understand. Example: “The founder sees the prototype fail under harsh lab lighting” is more useful than “Scene 3, line 12.” This becomes the foundation for both the storyboard and the shot list.

Create a shot table from the beats
Turn each beat into a row with practical production fields. A simple AI-ready shot table should include:

Rewrite each shot as a visual prompt
AI works best when each prompt describes a single frame or camera idea. Convert your shot table into prompts that include subject, action, composition, lighting, environment, lens style, and mood.
A weak prompt is: “Storyboard a woman in a city.”
A stronger prompt is: “Wide establishing shot of a young founder standing alone on a rain-slick rooftop at night, neon city skyline behind her, anxious but determined expression, cinematic 35mm lens look, cool blue lighting, high contrast, dramatic atmosphere.”

Add visual references for consistency
Upload or organize references before generating the first batch. References can include character portraits, product photography, location inspiration, framing examples, lighting styles, or a brand mood board. This is especially important when the same person, product, or environment appears across multiple shots.
Do not overload every prompt with every detail. Put global rules in your project notes, then keep each shot prompt focused on what changes in that specific frame.

Define the camera language
A shot list is not complete until it tells the camera what to do. Add camera body feel, lens type, focal length, angle, movement, and composition. Select anchor frames for each key shot
An anchor frame is the image that defines the shot. It should lock the composition, subject placement, visual style, and story intent. Choose anchors for the shots that matter most: opening image, product reveal, turning point, emotional close-up, final frame, or any shot with complex continuity.
Once selected, add each anchor to your storyboard board or shot list. Include the prompt, scene number, and production notes so the team can trace every image back to the script.

Export a clean storyboard and shot list
When the visual pass is complete, assemble the final deliverables. Your storyboard should show the frame order, image, scene label, prompt, and notes. Your shot list should be more operational: shot number, location, subject, action, camera, motion, props, continuity, and status.
